By clicking any of the links listed above, you will be able to read about the Vietnam Draft Lottery.   The first Draft Lottery was held on December 1st, 1969.   This lottery included the birth years of 1944 thru 1950.   By having this system in place, it was meant to include all men who were ages 19 thru 26.  It was intended to make a large available pool of men who would be drafted in 1970.  The sequence of the draft would be in accordance with assigned numbers for each 365 days in a calendar.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     The 2nd draft, held on January 1st, 1970, would assign numbers for those men born in 1951.  The following year, August 5th, 1971, was the assigned numbers for men born in 1952.   Eventually, the last draft call was held on December 7th, 1972 for men born in 1953. and the authority to induct expired on June 30th, 1973.  As of this writing, there has not been a draft for the last 47 years.
